A Boston doctor was arrested after he allegedly masturbated on a plane while sitting next to a 14-year-old girl.
A criminal complaint alleges Dr. Sudipta Mohanty masturbated on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu to Boston.
Mohanty allegedly masturbated in plain sight and did the act in front of a 14-year-old passenger who changed her seats after being exposed to Mohanty’s genitals.
Mohanty has been charged with one count of “lewd, indecent, and obscene acts while in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States.”

A Boston doctor was arrested and charged after allegedly masturbating and exposing himself while a 14-year-old girl was sitting right next to him on a plane.
Federal prosecutors said Thursday that 33-year-old Dr. Sudipta Mohanty was allegedly masturbating and exposing himself while on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu, Hawaii to Boston on May 27, 2022, within the view of a 14-year-old girl, who was sitting next to him.
Mohanty is a primary care physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
The criminal complaint states that around halfway through the flight, the 14-year-old saw that Mohanty had himself covered with a blanket reaching up to his neck, seeing that his leg was “bouncing up and down.”
A short time later, the teenage girl saw that the blanket was on the floor and no longer covering the 33-year-old man, and could allegedly see that he was masturbating. Prosecutors state that the minor saw Mohanty’s pants unzipped, exposing his genitals.
The minor then moved to a different empty seat for the rest of the flight, according to the filing.

A Massachusetts doctor has been arrested for allegedly exposing himself and masturbating next to a 14-year-old girl on a flight from Hawaii while other passengers slept.
Dr. Sudipta Mohanty, 33, of Cambridge, was arrested Thursday and accused of performing the lewd act on Hawaiian Airlines Flight 90 from Honolulu to Boston in May last year, the US Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts said.
Mohanty, a primary care physician at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, was flying with a female companion and seated next to the girl, who was traveling with her grandparents, according to charging documents.
About halfway through the flight, the girl noticed that Mohanty had covered himself with a blanket up to his neck and that his leg was bouncing up and down, the affidavit states.
