We must all remember that politicians are two-faced. Never take what a politician says or does at face value. Just because a politician votes the way you want them to doesn’t mean they are on your side.
Joe Manchin is a prime example of that. He is a Senator from West Virginia, and he is playing games. Joe Manchin spoke with Chris Cuomo and said:
“If Joe Biden runs again, if he’s the Democrat nominee, depending on who the Republican nominee is, we’ll just have to wait and see.
The reason why he is holding back is that Manchin is up for reelection in 2024 as well. At this point, Manchin has been a ping pong ball on the Hill. At one point, he sides with Republicans, then switches and tries to regain favor with his party.
According to Fivethirtyeight.com, Manchin has voted in line with Biden 90.4% of the time.
The first time Manchin voted against Biden’s policies was December 8, 2021. Manchin voted “Yea” on the Joint Resolution (S.J.Res. 29).
“This joint resolution nullifies a Department of Labor emergency temporary standard for preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in employment settings.
Under the standard issued on November 5, 2021, employers with 100 or more employees must require their onsite employees to either be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.”
However, Manchin votes in favor of Biden’s policies by voting against S.J.Res. 32 and S.J.Res 38.
“This joint resolution nullifies the rule titled Medicare and Medicaid Programs; Omnibus COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination, which was issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on November 5, 2021. The rule requires health care providers, as a condition of Medicare and Medicaid participation, to ensure that staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”
“This joint resolution terminates the national emergency concerning COVID-19 declared by the President on March 13, 2020.”
Manchin then goes against Biden and votes in favor of S.J.Res. 37 and S.J.Res. 39. Both required face masks to be worn; by voting in favor of both resolutions, the mask requirement was lifted.
It would be one thing if Joe Manchin were consistent in his voting and morals. Such as voting in Biden’s picks for Justices and other positions and then voting to keep filibuster rules in place. Or if he is choosing which hill he is willing to die on.
In a previous Raging Patriots article:
“Joe Manchin stood up to Democrat spending amidst record inflation and out-of-control prices on everything from gas to toilet paper when he declined to negotiate further on Biden’s big agenda item, clean energy.”
However, Joe Manchin did vote in favor of the 2022 fiscal year appropriations bill. So who is to say that Manchin will not endorse Joe Biden? Joe Manchin is a wild card, but not for the right reasons. Only time will tell what Joe Manchin decides to do in 2024.
