Donald And Melania Trump Celebrate Incredible Marriage Milestone
The beginning of the second Trump presidency is a celebratory affair for a whole host of reasons, but there’s an especially important one for the president and first lady.
President Donald Trump woke up Wednesday morning heaping praise on his wife, Melania, firing off several Truth Social posts paying tribute to the love of his life on their 20th wedding anniversary. The two met in 1998 during a party in New York City and married in 2005.
As other supporters of the presidential power couple joined in, President Trump elevated their messages on his official page. One carried the caption “The REAL First Lady. We love you Melania” and was among the first shared by Trump, while another showed Melania, 54, holding a young Barron Trump as a boy.
The 2005 wedding between Trump and model Melania Knauss was the talk of the town that year as paparazzi scrambled to get shots of the future president and his beautiful bride. For the ceremony, Melania was photographed in a $100,000 Christian Dior wedding gown, which reportedly took over 500 hours to be sewn by hand and included a 16-foot-long veil covered in beads, according to Fox News.
Trump, a real estate mogul at the time, welcomed their 350 guests to the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-By-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. An extensive reception and celebration followed at his Mar-a-Lago estate, which reportedly included up to 10,000 flowers. Up to 500 guests were then fed caviar and drank Cristal champagne brought by Trump’s personal chefs.
The Palm Beach Daily News observed at the time, “beggar’s purses filled with caviar, tenderloin done to a turn, miniature wedding cakes and the finest Cristal poured into one of those magical glasses that is never, ever empty.”
“Enormous candelabrae were wrapped top to bottom in white orchids and roses,” the account continued. “A stage at the east end of the room held the Michael Rose Orchestra. This was not your typical wedding reception,” the high-society publication wrote in 2005.
Melania wrote about her own recollections of her big day in her recent memoir, “Melania.”
“Although my wedding was grand in scale … what I felt in my heart was what every other bride feels on her special day. The pressure to ensure everything went smoothly was certainly real, but ultimately, my primary focus was celebrating Donald and my love and commitment, surrounded by my loved ones,” she recalled.
Some of the biggest names in the mid-aughts were present for the Trump matrimony, including future presidential competitor Hillary Clinton and her husband, Bill, just five years out of the Oval Office himself. Other celebrities present for the bash included Paul Anka, Billy Joel, and Donna Summer.
Just over a year later, the Trumps’ only son Barron was born on March 20th, 2006, in New York City. Filled with the ambition and insight of his father, the 18-year-old Barron helped propel his father and mother to the White House through an ingenious use of podcasts and new media, encouraging President Trump to broaden his outreach strategy into alternative shows popular with young men like himself.
“He’s a grown young man. I’m very proud of him, about his knowledge even about politics, and giving advice to his father. He brought in so many young people. He knows his generation. Because nowadays the young generation—they don’t sit in front of the TV anymore. They’re all on the tablets, on their phones, and all of these podcasts and streamers,” Melania explained in an interview last month. “He was very vocal and he gave advice to his father, and it was incredible how he brought in success because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to.”
Asked if she was shocked at how quickly Barron went from a “little boy” walking the halls of the West Wing to being at the right hand of his father for a second administration, Melania responded without hesitation. “Yes, it is,” she said with a proud smile.
