Liz Cheney Calls Trump ‘Single-Most Dangerous Threat We Face,’ Teases 2024 Presidential Run

Anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney, fresh off a massive defeat in her re-election campaign for Congresswoman, is back on the Sunday morning talking shows floating the idea that she might run for the presidency in 2024.

Liz Cheney, the daughter of former vice president and Bushite Dick Cheney, soft-peddled a White House run when asked about it by CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

“But if it came down to it, even though you disagree with Joe Biden on almost every issue under the sun, other than maybe Ukraine and Israel, would you vote for him over Donald Trump?” Tapper asked.

“We’re going to see what happens,” Cheney replied. “We’re going to see how things unfold.”

“I think Donald Trump is the single most dangerous threat we face,” she added.

Just to be clear, the United States now faces and out-of-control border crisis that was mostly controlled by Donald Trump and his entire four years of his presidency not only was peaceful, but he kept regional conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East largely manageable. The Trump presidency can also be credited with destroying the top leadership of ISIS.

“I would imagine that there will be a number of other candidates in the race,” she added.

“Would you be one of them?” Tapper asked.

“I’ll tell you what I am definitely going to do. I’m going to spend the next year between now and the election, certainly helping to elect serious people, helping to elect sane people to Congress of both parties,” she coyly responded.

“Yes, because I think that we could well find ourselves in a situation, given what we know the Trump folks are doing in terms of attempting to question the results of the election,” she continued. “We don’t want a situation where the election is thrown into the House of Representatives and Donald Trump has any possibility at all of prevailing under those circumstances.”

Cheney essentially admits here that this was the scenario prevented on January 6, even as the Electoral Count Act, potentially unconstitutional, has seemed to have forestalled that as a likely future scenario.

“So we’ve got to elect people who believe in the Constitution and who take their responsibility seriously to Congress,” she claimed. “So I’m going to be spending a lot of time doing that in addition to other things.”

“But you’re not ruling out a presidential run,” Tapper pressed.

“No, I’m not,” she replied.

Cheney has essentially zero chance of making any traction in a 2024 presidential run. There are no MAGA Republicans who would support her; in fact, many would go out of their way to work against her. She does not have strong backing among mainstream Republicans, either. She was crushed in her Wyoming re-election bid by 37 points to Harriet Hageman, which became the single-biggest primary defeat for an incumbent in the 21st century.

Let’s be frank: Democrats are only listening to Cheney because she strikes a fine tune to their ears with her toxic attacks against the former president. There are scant Democrats who would back her in an election, particularly with independent candidates like Robert F. Kennedy and radical academic Cornel West running.

Cheney may be able to get some financial backing due to her well-connected father, but she has no path to the presidency. Her bid would be essentially to poke a finger in the eye of Trump and his supporters, and of course, to sell books.

Then, of course, the icing on the cake of her Sunday morning interview.

“Okay. And we’ll see you when your book comes out,” Tapper said.

“Thank you. I look forward to it.”
