Longtime DeSantis Ally FLIPS: “Trump Has Never Let Us Down”

A longtime DeSantis Ally has denounced his support for the Florida governor and instead now endorses President Trump.

Rep. Randy Fine acted as DeSantis’ Jewish outreach chair.

However, Rep. Fine wrote an op-ed to the Washington Times about why he swapped to supporting President Trump.

Check the op-ed in the Washington Times here:

Today, in the aftermath of the worst attack on my people since the Holocaust, we have open anti-Semitic protests taking place all over the state, worst of all on our State University campuses. In 2019, I wrote a bill that would allow the Governor to end these – it was the centerpiece of his trade mission to Israel. The bill was simple – our universities already kick kids out who call Black students the “n-word” – as they should. It simply required them to do the same for Jewish kids being told they should be wiped off the earth. When I begged Governor DeSantis to use the bill to protect these children after the attack, he shrugged it off and passed the buck to our University Presidents. They continue to do nothing.

In 2020, I had an open anti-Semite run against me; she called me a “pest” who should be “exterminated.” So many Republican leaders came to my defense; Governor DeSantis did not. He didn’t even endorse me.

And furthermore:

Donald Trump didn’t just talk about moving the Embassy. He did it.

Donald Trump didn’t just talk about Israeli security. He green-lit them annexing the Golan.

Donald Trump didn’t just talk about peace. He signed the Abraham Accords. He deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for it.

Actions truly speak louder than actions.

Rep. Randy Fine announced his support on X:

Today, I am endorsing @realDonaldTrump

“The past 2 wks have made me realize our choice as Jews is simple. We can vote for the Gov who says the right things, or we can vote for the President who actually does them. When it comes to action, Trump has never let us down.”…

And many came out to support him:

The Washington Post shares more on the story:

Bryan Griffin, DeSantis’s campaign spokesman, called Fine’s announcement “nothing more than shameful political theater at a time when Ron DeSantis is leading the charge to support Israel.”

“From working to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, to combating antisemitism throughout Florida and its schools, to securing funding for security at Jewish schools and synagogues, there’s never been a more pro-Israel Governor,” Griffin said. “When Joe Biden stood idly by, Ron DeSantis sent planes to bring over 700 Americans home to safety and called the Florida legislature back for a special session to levy sanctions against Iran and provide further protections to Jewish students and faith communities in Florida. When it comes to standing in defense of Israel, he’s always been a leader who acts and delivers.”

Now that Rep. Fine has come out against DeSantis’ lack of support for Jewish people.

It raises eyebrows about his reasoning for backing Israel so energetically.

Perhaps he is only doing it to improve his public image so more people can’t come out and say he doesn’t support Jewish people.
