BREAKING: Pelosi Admits ‘Responsibility’ For J6 In Newly Leaked Video
A newly-leaked video has captured former Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitting her “responsibility” for the security breaches during the tumultuous events of January 6, 2021. The admission comes after years of attributing the blame primarily to former President Donald Trump, an accusation that has now been cast in a different light.
The footage, released by the Committee on House Administration’s Subcommittee on Oversight for Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), featured Pelosi in a candid discussion during events, where she acknowledged her role in the lack of preparation that led to the Capitol breach. “We have responsibility, Terry. We did not have any accountability for what was going on there, and we should have,” Pelosi is heard saying in the video. The moment provides a rare glimpse into the internal conversations among top Democratic leaders at the time of the crisis.
For over three years, Pelosi and other Democrats have pointed fingers at Trump, implicating his rhetoric and actions in inciting the violence that shook the nation’s capital. They have spent nearly $20 million in investigations and narrative-building efforts aimed at solidifying this perspective in the public eye and in the halls of Congress.
However, Pelosi’s own words in the leaked footage tell a different story, one where she admits, “This is ridiculous. You’re going to ask me in the middle of the thing when they’ve already breached the inaugural stuff that, uh, should we call the Capitol Police? I mean, the National Guard? Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with?” Pelosi further critiqued the security preparedness, “They clearly didn’t know, and I take responsibility for not having them just prepare for war.”
Pelosi was one of the primary targets of the rioters who breached the Capitol. She was evacuated from the Capitol along with other congressional leaders and members as the rioters entered the building. Following the breach, Pelosi was a vocal critic of President Trump, whom she blamed for inciting the violence. She called for his immediate impeachment and was instrumental in the swift action taken by the House of Representatives to impeach Trump for a second time on the charge of incitement of insurrection.
In the aftermath, Pelosi advocated for various security enhancements at the Capitol and supported efforts to investigate the events of January 6 more thoroughly. This included backing the creation of a select committee to investigate the attack and ensuring that future breaches of the Capitol could be prevented.
The newly leaked admission is significant, however, not only because it directly contradicts the long-held narrative that solely blamed Trump but also because it highlights a failure at the highest levels of congressional leadership to ensure the Capitol’s security. The responsibility for the deployment of the National Guard and the overall security framework around significant events like the certification of the Electoral College votes falls heavily on congressional leaders and the Department of Homeland Security.
The Oversight Subcommittee’s release of the video appears to be an attempt to correct the record, showing that the responsibility for the January 6 events is more complex and widespread than previously portrayed.
