Secret Caves Under CA River Expose Troubling Homeless Encampments
Check this out.
California’s homeless crisis hits Modesto!
Cops and volunteers clear out makeshift caves along Tuolumne River, 20 feet underground.
People turning caves into homes with DIY stairs, makeshift furniture – talk about desperate measures for shelter.
New York Post reports:
Gosh, those blue-state policies around homelessness sure are compassionate: In California, the homeless get to live in caves!
That’s right: A homeless encampment near Modesto was discovered dug into riverside caves. Post-clearout, the trash filling the 20-foot-deep underground habitats was enough to cram two trucks and a trailer.
In other words, progressives aren’t revolutionaries, they’re devolutionaries.
The drugs and violence afflicting San Francisco’s Tenderloin are so serious, the city called a state of emergency within the area.
Heck, piracy recently resurged in the Bay itself.
LA cleared literally tens of thousands of homeless people off its streets this year, but tens of thousands more remain.
And the squalor clearly isn’t confined to the formerly Golden State’s big coastal cities; Modesto is inland, with a relatively small population a bit over 200,000.
Here’s the clip showing the inside of it:

Insane.
Volunteer groups removed a whopping 7600 pounds of trash and also found guns and drugs.

Fox News adds:
Volunteers with Operation 9-2-99 and the Tuolumne River Trust worked with police to clear them out, removing some 7,600 pounds of garbage from the area, authorities said.
“This particular area has been plagued by vagrancy and illegal camps, which have raised concerns due to the fact that these camps were actually caves dug into the riverbanks,” the Modesto Police Department said in a statement.
“We really don’t have a known solution on how to deal with it,” Guptill told KOVR.
Tracy Rojas, a Modesto resident who lives near the caves, said it is dangerous for people to take up residence underground.
“If one of these were to collapse, it would be devastating,” she told KOVR. “This whole thing would come down and go into the water.”
Elaborate caves equipped with chairs, tables and even beds— that’s how the homeless along the Tuolumne River in #Modesto were living until a cleanup this weekend. Today crews are blocking off cave entrances.

There’s some debate over on X on how the government should handle this.
Cali cops did a homeless sweep on a series of 8 caves.
You’re not even allowed the shelter of a CAVE.
“We really don’t have a known solution on how to deal with it,” YES you do, it’s called:

It’s a terrible testament to the state of things.
Our own homeless citizens and veterans aren’t taken care of by our government.
But invaders get the housing, the funding, the health care, free smart phones, the thousand dollar gift cards.
