Black Radio Host Fired For Allowing Biden White House to Send Scripted Questions
The radio host who interviewed Joe Biden and admitted to using pre-approved questions provided by the Biden campaign has “mutually agreed to part ways” with her station after it condemned her for using the questions.
Andrea Lawful-Sanders, host of “The Source” on WURD in Philadelphia, revealed on CNN last Saturday that Biden officials had sent her a list of questions to ask the President in an interview conducted the previous Wednesday. Lawful-Sanders explained that she approved four of these questions and posed them to Biden during the interview.
Following this disclosure, WURD released a statement announcing that Lawful-Sanders and the station have “mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.”
The station clarified that the interview was arranged and negotiated independently by Lawful-Sanders, without the knowledge or collaboration of WURD management. WURD emphasized that using pre-determined questions provided by the Biden campaign violated its commitment to “remaining an independent media outlet” that is held accountable by its listeners.
“WURD Radio remains an independent voice that our audience can trust will hold elected officials accountable. As Pennsylvania’s only independent black-owned talk radio station, WURD Radio has cultivated that trust with our audience over our 20-year history. This is something we take very seriously,” the statement read.
“Agreeing to a pre-determined set of questions jeopardizes that trust and is not a practice that WURD Radio engages in or endorses as a matter of practice or official policy,” the station added.

The news that the Biden campaign had sent pre-approved questions to an interviewer was quickly spun by news outlets as more proof that the president lacks the cognitive ability to participate in off-the-cuff interviews. Lauren Hitt, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, initially defended the incident and said that it is “not uncommon” for campaigns to share preferred topics for interviews. She also claimed that the campaign does not “condition interviews on acceptance of these questions.”
