Doocy Reveals What Happened After Biden Famously Called Him ‘Stupid Son Of A B*tch’
Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy said Friday that President Joe Biden never fulfilled his promise of taking the reporter out for lunch after he famously called him a “stupid son of a bitch.”
A hot mic caught Biden calling Doocy a “stupid son of a bitch” after he asked about the potential “political liability” inflation could have for Democrats during a press conference in January 2022. The Fox News correspondent, who has covered Biden since the launch of his 2020 campaign, said the president called him to address the name call and promised to take him out for lunch, which never ended up occurring.
“I feel like I can say this now because it never happened,” Doocy told the “Fox & Friends” co-hosts. “HE called me and initially he told me ‘it’s nothing personal, pal’ that he said a bad word. And he also said, and this was at the tail-end of COVID, he said he would have me in for lunch when it was safe. Well, I think his lunch card is probably filled, it never happened. So, it was never safe to have lunch with me.”
His father, Fox News host Steve Doocy, added that his son asked former White House press secretary Jen Psaki about the potential lunch after he took a photo with her on her last day.
“The lunch never happened. I’ve told many people about the lunch, the lunch never happened. I did not pack a lunch today, Fridays I’m usually out of leftovers, so we’re out here,” Doocy said.
Following the incident, Doocy told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that Biden called him within the hour to “clear the air” and assure that his remark was “nothing personal.” He added that he did not receive an apology from the president and did not expect one.
“He did clear the air and I appreciate it. We had a nice call … I told him that I appreciated him reaching out. Hey, Sean, the world is on the brink of, like, World War III. With all the stuff going on, I appreciate that the president took a couple minutes out this evening while he was still at the desk to give me a call and clear the air, but I don’t need anybody to apologize to me,” Doocy told Hannity.
The reporter added that there are empty picture frames and turned off televisions currently inside the White House, indicating that the staff does not want to watch the current coverage of President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming administration. He further added in a separate segment that Biden’s team repeatedly “minimized” him by using “stagecraft,” including loud music and large crowds, to restrict the press access to ask him direct questions throughout his administration.
Biden has a long-standing history of snapping at reporters and the public when they asked him pressing questions. While campaigning in New Hampshire during the 2020 election season, he bizarrely called a woman a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” for asking about his lagging performance in Iowa, and further called a man a “damn liar” and challenged him to push ups in December 2019 for asking about his son Hunter’s business activities in Ukraine.
He further snapped at a White House reporter in May 2023 as he asked about his attempted negotiations with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy regarding a debt ceiling deal.
The president appeared to pick a fight with TIME Washington Bureau Chief Massimo Calabresi in June as he asked about concerns surrounding his age after special counsel Robert Hur concluded in his report that Biden was a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory” and thus would not be charged for storing classified documents.
