The daughter of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was arrested last month for allegedly driving with a suspended license, according to a new report.

Kinaya Willis, 25, was pulled over in Tyrone, Georgia on August 24 for driving while using a cellphone. After pulling her over, police discovered that she was driving with a suspended license, according to a police report obtained by the Daily Mail.

Kinaya Willis, who is reportedly pregnant, told officers that she had been using her cellphone “due to her mother calling her related to her pregnancy,” the incident report notes. The daughter of the embattled district attorney further claimed that she was “unaware” her license had been suspended since May 13, also for allegedly driving while it had been suspended.

According to the report, Fani Willis headed to the scene herself in order to retrieve her daughter’s 2010 Nissan Altima after she was arrested. “Willis’s mother later arrived on scene to take possession of her vehicle,” the report states.

Kinaya was booked into the Fayette County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a revoked or suspended license. She also had a mugshot taken at the facility, which is located roughly 30 minutes from her mother’s District in Atlanta, the New York Post noted.

Kinaya currently has an arraignment hearing set for October 24 in the Tyrone Municipal Court. She faces a maximum of two days in jail, a fine of up to $500 and a six-month extension on her suspended license if convicted, the Daily Mail reported.

Fani Willis gained national notoriety by bringing a highly questionable racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and his associates for questioning the results of the 2020 election. The case has been on hold since June, as the Georgia Court of Appeals weighs whether Willis should be disqualified from the case due to accusations of impropriety and misuse of office funds.
