Kamala ‘Deeply Sad’ After Learning Devastating News

A black cloud is hovering over Vice President Kamala Harris during her final days in office as insiders say the failed presidential candidate remains “deeply sad” about her loss and the way she’s being treated by foes and friends alike, including her boss.

At the start of this week, a steady drip of palace intrigue hit the press. Sources revealed that Harris is upset with President Joe Biden for publicly claiming in recent days that he “could have won” the election had he stayed in the race. Supporters of Harris denounced the “one-sided loyalty” they saw coming from Biden and his team.

By Friday, the maelstrom of malcontent grew fiercer, with Harris privately expressing a “deep sadness” over her loss and Biden’s disloyalty after everything she has done for him, including defending him for almost two years as calls for the 82-year-old to drop out reached a fever pitch.

Her scattered approach to politics portends a time in the wilderness for Harris as she ponders her next steps. After Sen. Deb Fischer’s (R-NE) husband refused to shake Harris’s hand at a swearing-in ceremony, the veep blasted out a fundraising email about it.

“Some people will do what they do…” read the appeal, which sought donations as low as $5.

Harris has confided that she plans to write a book within the next year, but it’s unclear even to her what its topic will be. Her nearest focus, however, is attending President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on January 20th, a painful reminder of the loss she suffered at his hands in November.

“She’s probably going to be gritting her teeth as she does it, it’s really going to be difficult on Inauguration Day,” Andersen Brower, the author of “First In Line, Presidents Vice Presidents, and the Pursuit of Power,” told the Daily Mail.

At the same time, the vice president is eschewing traditional duties like welcoming Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and his wife Usha to her formal residence at the Naval Observatory for a sit-down and tour. Historians say the decay of such norms is a worrying sign for the state of the country.

It’s “a real degradation of these ceremonies that are so important to our country, and to democracy and the peaceful transition of power,” presidential historian Kate Andersen Brower told the outlet.

Although she remains at the top of the list of 2028 presidential contenders, Harris’s favorability among Republicans and independents has hovered at historic lows. In December, her standing dipped an average of 12 points among Democratic voters, too.

Add it all up, and perhaps these reasons explain why the “new” Kamala of late has been a sourpuss at recent public outings. She glared at Trump and former President Barack Obama as they shared a laugh during Jimmy Carter’s funeral, and she has refused to acknowledge First Lady Jill Biden even when seated next to her.

“The postelection rapport among the Bidens and Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, in private settings has at times been frosty,” a source told the Wall Street Journal in early January.
