Mystery Item Falls Out of Pelosi’s Pants at DNC Convention

In a moment of live TV more fitting for a comedy series, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) arrived center stage during the third night of the Democratic National Convention only to stop and look behind her at what appeared to be a segment of toilet paper falling out from one of her pant legs.

Pelosi’s embarrassing faux pas occurred toward the latter half of the night when she arrived in a lavender pantsuit to heap praises on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, retell her experiences on J6, and fearmonger about the dangers former President Donald Trump poses to democracy. All of those messages may have been wiped clean from the minds of viewers who saw Pelosi reach the podium, and then awkwardly look behind her toward the floor to see what she felt run down her leg. What might horrify any normal American was brushed off by Pelosi, who turned and began speaking to the legions of Democratic voters applauding her.

Not the Bee took the time to slow down footage capturing the white piece of cloth dropping out of Pelosi’s left pant leg, showing that it had a bit of “heft” to it. Naturally, the author conducted a science experiment to see whether the culprit was actually toilet paper, handkerchief, napkin, envelope, postcard, or something else entirely.

They conclude based on the experiment that the fallen item appears to fall most similarly to a notecard dropped at the same height. However, the distance between the camera and Pelosi’s incident makes it impossible to know for certain. As they note, only viewers sitting stage right may have gotten an answer, and even then it’s unlikely.

The convention’s third night was capped by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s acceptance of the Democratic Party’s nomination for vice president, an opportunity he used to play “Minnesota nice” for the crowd and act as Harris’s number-one hype man. ”Kamala Harris is tough, Kamala Harris is experienced, and Kamala Harris is ready,” he said, the Boston Globe reported. “Our job is to get in the trenches and do the blocking and tackling.” Rather than touting his own aspirations for a Harris-Walz administration, he stuck tightly to the supportive role of deputy-in-chief. “He didn’t come in with a list of demands and things he wanted to work on,” said Ken Martin, chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party and a close confidant of Walz. “He said, ‘Whatever you need me to do to make this administration successful, I’m going to do.’ ”

As Walz took the stage, Trump released on Truth Social a devastating new 30-second ad stoking fears about Harris’s “radical ideas…. [to] raise money to fund the release of violent criminals” while California attorney general. The Republican highlighted the release of Shawn Michael Tillman, a repeat felon who was released and later charged with murder. The GOP continues to search for its most effective lines of attack against Harris and Walz and enjoys a wealth of subjects to draw on: claims about Walz’s “stolen valor” military service and his wife’s false statements about using IVF to Harris’s clunky deliveries and reticence to speak with the press.
