Would-Be Trump Shooter’s Son Arrested After Shocking Revelation

In a bizarre twist, the son of the latest would-be shooter targeting President Donald Trump has been arrested by the feds as well.

Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested on August 15th after Secret Service agents found him perched in shrubbery with a rifle along the perimeter of the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida where the former president was in the middle of a game. On Tuesday his son, Oran Routh, was arrested in North Carolina after authorities found what they claimed to be “hundreds” of child p*rnography images on his electronic devices. ABC News reported that the “unrelated investigation” into Routh Sr. turned up the evidence against Routh Jr.

Oran Routh was taken into custody from his residence in Guilford County, North Carolina on Saturday, less than a week after his father nearly opened fire on President Trump. Authorities told ABC a search of his property was conducted “in connection with an investigation unrelated to child exploitation.” Investigators with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Carolina said that child p*rnography images were found on a Samsung Galaxy Note device in Oran Routh’s primary bedroom as well as another device on his person. He has been charged with two counts: receipt of child p*rnography and possession of child p*rnography.

“A review of the SD card located in Device-1 revealed that it contained hundreds of child p*rnography files,” prosecutors wrote in the criminal complaint. “These files include videos from a known child p*rnography series created outside the state of North Carolina.” Prosecutors go on to describe in graphic detail the videos on Routh’s devices as well as a series of online messages purporting to show Routh making a purchase of the images from another individual. Oran Routh will make an initial appearance in North Carolina federal court on Tuesday, where prosecutors are expected to request that he remain in detention.

The arrest comes just over a week after Routh Sr. was charged with obliterating the serial number on a rifle found in his possession at the Florida golf course where cell phone records show he laid for up to 12 hours before President Trump crossed into his line of sight. More serious charges related to an assassination attempt are expected, especially after authorities on Monday discovered a handwritten note from Routh confirming that he was at the property for an attempted assassination. “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job,” he is said to have written to an associate who received the letter months earlier.
