DeSantis Losing Support According to New Poll

Things may not be going as well for Ron DeSantis as he expected.

According to a new poll form NBC, DeSantis now trails President Donald Trump by a wide margin.

The democrats’ indictment of President Trump may have backfired in a big way, as he has only gained support since then.

Trump now leads DeSantis by 29 points.

The bottom line is, Ron DeSantis may have been better suited to wait until 2028…

NBC has the latest on the sinking numbers for DeSantis:

In our new poll, Trump gets support from 51% of Republican primary voters, while DeSantis gets 22% — followed by former Vice President Mike Pence at 7%, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 5% and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley at 4%.

But back in April (after Trump’s first indictment in that alleged hush-money case), the former president’s lead over DeSantis was half its current size — Trump 46%, DeSantis 31%, Pence 6%.

Bottom line: Trump’s percentage has gone up 5 points since April; DeSantis’ percentage has gone down 9 points.

And when the NBC News poll reduces the GOP contest to a two-person contest between Trump and DeSantis, the former president is at 60%, while the Florida governor is at 36%.

Newsmax has the latest:

If President Joe Biden’s Justice Department truly seeks to damage former President Donald Trump with investigations and indictments, it is not working.

The latest NBC News poll finds Trump has expanded his lead on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the rest of the primary field to 29 points, nearly doubling his lead from April (15 points).

A 51% majority of Republican primary voters nationwide now pick Trump over DeSantis (22%), former Vice President Mike Pence (7%), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (5%), with no other candidate getting more than 4%, according to the poll.

“For the first time in history, a former president has been indicted, and we can’t find a marker in this survey that it’s had an impact with his standing,” Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies told NBC News.

There’s a lesson to be learned here…

Never bet against Trump.
