J.D. Vance Shuts Down Biased Moderators After Incorrect ‘Fact Check’

Much like last month’s ABC News-hosted vice presidential debate between  President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate was plagued by incorrect and one-sided “fact checks” of Republican nominee J.D. Vance.

Much like ABC moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, CBS moderators Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell frequently interrupted Vance with “fact checks” that were often incorrect. They also asked Vance loaded questions while giving straightforward layups to Walz.

The issue was most pronounced on the topic of illegal immigration. Vance was asked about the separation of families at the southern border, an issue that has exploded under the Biden-Harris Administration. Since President Biden and Vice President Harris took office in January 2021, more than 7 million illegal aliens have flooded across both the southern and northern borders. The United States set illegal immigration records in both 2022 and 2023, while illegal border crossings remain well above Trump Administration levels in 2024.

These figures do not include “gotaways,” which refers to illegal aliens who avoid Border Patrol detection and find their way into the United States.

“We have a historic immigration crisis because Kamala Harris started and said that she wanted to undo all of Donald Trump’s border policies. Ninety-four executive orders suspending deportations, decriminalizing illegal aliens, massively increasing the asylum fraud that exists in our system. That has opened the floodgates,” Vance said.

Walz responded by falsely claiming that the U.S. Senate had agreed to a “bipartisan border deal” that was killed by former President Trump. In reality, the “deal” was radically different than what Walz described. The Senate bill would have allowed up to 10,000 illegal aliens a day, provided tens of millions in funding for NGO’s and lawyers to speed up asylum claims and accelerated a green card handout. It also allocated hundreds of billions of dollars in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and other nations.

The Democratic Party nominee also dismissed police reports and citizen testimonials on the topic of pets and local wildlife being eaten by Haitian migrants in Springfield Ohio. After Vance responded to the question, Brennan and O’Donnell once again attempted to “fact check” the Republican candidate.

“Just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status, temporary protective status,” Brennan said before attempting to move on. At that point, Vance immediately jumped in to correct the false “fact check.”

The moderators and Vance went back and forth for a moment as Vance tried to correct the record while the moderators wanted to move on to another topic. “Margaret, the rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check. And since you’re fact checking me, I think it’s important to say what’s actually going on.

“So there’s an application called the CBP One app where you can go on as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for parole and be granted legal status at the wave of a Kamala Harris open border wand. That is not a person coming in, applying for a green card and waiting for 10 years. That is the facilitation of a legal immigration, Margaret, by our own leadership,” he continued, thoroughly disproving the “fact check.”

“Thank you so much for explaining the legal process,” Brennan smugly shot back. “We have so much to get to, Senator.”

As Vance continued to explain how the “fact check” was incorrect, the moderators eventually cut his microphone.
