BREAKING: Trump Scores Major Endorsement From Congressional Leader
Former President Donald Trump has secured a major endorsement from House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA). In his endorsement, Scalise lauded Trump’s previous administration for its economic achievements, including a strong economy, low interest rates, and affordable living costs.
Scalise wrote on X, “I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, and I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies.”

“When Donald Trump was President, American workers and families were thriving,” Scalise said in a full statement that was acquired by Fox News Digital. “The economy was strong and interest rates were low — grocery costs were affordable, and families could afford to buy a house and provide for their children.”
“The border was secure and crime was down. America had secure energy policies, keeping gas and utility prices low,” he continued. “Hardworking Americans are fed up — consumer sentiment fell to its lowest level ever under President Biden.”
“In Joe Biden’s America, our communities aren’t safe. American families and workers deserve a president who will stand up for them and their safety, rescue us from failed Bidenomics, and restore our nation to greatness.”
He finished, “In this race, there is one man who has a proven track record of being able to save our country and get us back on track: Donald Trump. He has done it once before, and I know he will do it again.”
The endorsement comes at a crucial time as Trump faces challenges in some states where efforts are being made to remove him from primary ballots, citing the January 6 Capitol riots and the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) responded critically to Scalise’s endorsement. They highlighted Scalise’s past actions, such as opposing the certification of the 2020 election results and supporting a nationwide abortion ban, as indicative of his alignment with Trump’s policies.
Sarafina Chitika, the DNC national press secretary told Fox News Digital: “MAGA House Republicans keep showing America they’ve turned the House into little more than an arm of Donald Trump’s campaign – so it’s no surprise Steve Scalise, who referred to himself as ‘David Duke without the baggage,’ is joining the parade of House extremists endorsing Trump’s bid.”
Chitika continued, “Scalise’s main goal has always been promoting Trump’s unpopular agenda: He opposed the certification of the 2020 election, is determined to enact a nationwide abortion ban, and collaborated with Trump to attempt to remove Americans’ health care.”
“Scalise’s endorsement is the latest evidence that while the House GOP is unable to achieve anything for the American public, they are intensely focused on pushing Trump’s MAGA agenda and eroding freedoms,” she finished.
Scalise has been known to support many of Trump’s policies and initiatives during his presidency. This included backing Trump’s positions on issues like immigration, healthcare, and tax reforms. As a senior member of the House of Representatives, Scalise worked with the Trump administration on various legislative efforts. His role as the House Minority Whip meant he was integral in rallying support for Trump’s agenda within Congress.
