Trump Campaign Issues NEW Statement!

Share

The Trump campaign has issued a new statement following a major alteration to the gag order imposed on President Trump by Judge Tanya Chutkan.

Much of the gag order still stands with one notable exception—unspecial prosecutor Jack Smith has now lost the cover of the gag order and the 45th President is once again free to criticize him.

To that I say good, Smith thinks he’s hot stuff and needs to be knocked down a peg or two.

The idea that an individual can attempt to prosecute another individual and legally bind them from saying anything about them is the height of cowardice and sliminess.

These gag orders are tantamount to assaulting someone while telling them that they have no right to hit back. Anyone who engages in that type of behavior on any level, in any way, shape, or form represents the worst humanity has to offer.

Here’s what Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung had to say following the change to the gag order:

The Epoch Times also reported:

The former president is prohibited from “making or directing others to make public statements about known or reasonably foreseeable witnesses concerning their potential participation in the investigation or in this criminal proceeding.”

Previously, the order prohibited President Trump from making any statements that would “target” any potential witness, or the content of their potential testimonies.

White House correspondent Simon Ateba clarified the ruling:

“Appeals Court just ruled that Trump can criticize Jack Smith, the special counsel in the alleged federal election subversion case in Washington DC. (aka J6 case).

NOTE: The court exempted Jack Smith from the gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump, a change from a lower court ruling in DC.

NOTE: The appeals court largely upheld the gag order, allowing restrictions on Trump from discussing witnesses, prosecutors, court staff, and their family members, but it added that comments about Jack Smith are now excluded from this order, as previously ruled by the DC Circuit Court.

NOTE: The latest decision was outlined in a lengthy opinion authored by Judge Patricia Millett just now.”

Yahoo News shared an excerpt of the court’s legal opinion on the gag order:

“We agree with the district court that some aspects of Mr. Trump’s public statements pose a significant and imminent threat to the fair and orderly adjudication of the ongoing criminal proceeding, warranting a speech-constraining protective order.

The district court’s order, however, covers more protected speech than is necessary.

For that reason, we affirm the district court’s order in part and vacate it in part.”
