President Donald Trump has emerged victorious in Kentucky and Indiana just moments after polls officially closed, marking his first win of the 2024 Presidential Election.

The first polls closed at 6 p.m. Eastern Time in parts of Kentucky and Indiana, though polls officially closed an hour later in a handful of states. At 7 p.m. Eastern Time, polls closed statewide in the aforementioned states, as well as South Carolina, Vermont and the pivotal battleground of Georgia.

All eyes will be on the Peach State throughout the first hour of statewide poll closures. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has stated that final results can be expected much earlier than 2020, when counting extended for more than 24 hours.

Raffensperger has stated that Georgia’s early votes — which are expected to account for 75 percent of the state’s total ballots cast — will be tabulated and posted by 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Election Night.

“We understand that you’re very passionate about your candidate on both sides of the aisle. But your job is to really control your emotions, go in and vote, and then you can go home and watch it on TV,” the secretary told BBC in a recent interview.

“Because by 8 o’clock on election night, all this early voting, and it looks like we’re going to hit over 4 million of early results, all of that will be posted, what the results are, will be tabulated, you know, Tuesday afternoon and reported no later than 8 p.m. That’ll be 70, 75 percent of the total votes,” he added. “Then over the course of the night, the final 25, 30 percent will be reported on a continual upload.”

Not all states are expected to have quick results, however, as election officials in Maricopa County — the largest county in Arizona — have stated that counting will last anywhere between 10 and 13 days. Officials in Nevada — a state with a long tradition of early voting — have also warned of extended wait times for results.
