DeSantis Not Worried About Trump Attacks; I Have Legislative Achievements!

In a recent interview with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) shrugged off former president Donald Trump’s ongoing criticism of him, saying he thought his record would render them ineffectual should he declare a run for president.

There are lots of individuals that want you to jump in; I don’t know many people who don’t anticipate you doing so, Kilmeade said. Are you concerned about being judged before you act? Since you’re the governor and not a contender yet, are you concerned about being categorized as a Paul Ryan or Jeb Bush type of Republican after watching President Trump try to do so?

DeSantis said that he wasn’t worried while chuckling to himself as Kilmeade built up to his question.

People can make fun of you when you have a track record of accomplishment, but it won’t take precedence over the accomplishment, he said. The best is yet to come, we’re going to do a lot more over the next several months, and that’s what people look to, so we’ve developed an unbelievable record of accomplishment.

DeSantis continued, “Now if I were just like, you know, some random senator that didn’t have accomplishments, then maybe someone could try to define you. But I’m defined by my accomplishments, I’m defined by leading this state, and I’m defined by having a state that’s the top destination for Americans looking for a better way of life. And so, as I predict you’ll see over the coming months, doing that is the best thing I can do for not only this state but also for people evaluating me.

Since announcing that he would run for president once more, Trump has often criticized DeSantis, who received his support during the Republican primary race for governor in 2018.

The real Ron is a RINO GLOBALIST, Trump said on Truth Social last month. The former president has reportedly been trying monikers for his potential adversary, such as “Meatball Ron” and “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

DeSantis is ahead of Trump in some state-level polls and some head-to-head matchup surveys despite not having formally declared his campaign. Nonetheless, Trump is ahead in the majority of national polls that also include other confirmed and potential candidates like Nikki Haley.

Kilmeade asked when the major news may be expected at the conclusion of his meeting with DeSantis.

Depending on how well we perform throughout this legislative session, DeSantis said.
